Brass is Back...

...and better than ever before.

A few weeks ago my mom told me she was planning to donate her brass flatware set my parents were gifted at their wedding over 25 years ago. It wasn't until we took a trip to Crate & Barrel, where she spotted a very similar set on display, that she decided to hold on to it.

If you haven't noticed yet either, brass is back. From polished brass to antique burnished brass, it is totally saturating the home decor market right now and is not going anywhere any time soon. I've always been obsessed (hello, hi - we're called Brass Bones if you forgot for a sec) and the options available now are so good and have caught up with interiors of today.

There are so many ways to implement brass in every possible design style. While it may be popular right now, it's the furthest thing from "trendy" and you can be sure it won't lose its appeal in the coming years.

Here are some super simple ways (in FIVE different design styles) that you can implement brass in your home, just with lighting and accessories alone!

Inspiration: Hallways

Many times when we take on projects, clients are looking to enhance the major rooms in their home - the ones they feel the most time is spent. But there are areas in our home that we use every single day that are overlooked far too often - the powder bath, closet, and especially hallways. There are major design upgrades that can easily be done here and most times super inexpensively, and in very little time. Many times, hallways are adorned with a piece or large art, maybe a bench - if that. There are statements to be had here and so many ways to bring your hallway up to par with the rest of your home. See some our faves below:

A runner is the simplest way to bring in interest to a boring hallway. This added warmth and pop of color creates an inviting transition from room to room. [Source]

A cluster of inexpensive lighting instantly becomes an art installation in this narrow hallway. [Source]

The floors take the stage in this minimal hallway with simple, refined lighting and understated decor. What seems to be lacking in color is made up for with major style. [Source]

One single pendant with pattern cutouts creates graphic shadows all over a walls. This one tiny upgrade creates a fun wallpaper-esque feature with minimal effort or cost. [Source]

A modern patterned rug and a graphic gallery display create a total neutral playground. There is plenty for the eye to stop and wander, yet remains simple and understated. [Source]

Adding molding or modern chair rail is a simple and inexpensive upgrade that can easily be done without the help of a handyman or contractor and can be completed in just one weekend. Additionally, these are the details that are great for adding resale value. [Source]
